Dieter and I had been connected on social media for a while after I saw him perform on a television talentshow. After seeing some of my posts, he reached out to me asking if we could meet up for a shooting. And so I drove up to his place on a sunny day for what would be my first location shooting.

He showed me around his house to scout for possible places to set up gear. After walking through his beautiful garden, we agreed that the outdoor sauna pavilion would be the perfect spot.

Working with a professional dancer is always a treat. He has a flexibility and grace in his movements that makes him twist his body in positions that seem impossible at first. The angles of the timbered structure created the perfect background for this black and white series.
You can feel the limited space we had in this wooden box in every shot. The multiple tripods and all cables on the floor left us very little space to move, causing us to trip on many occasions. I will never forget how the temperature was rising in this contained space towards the end of the shoot.
